Heart of Summer Triathlon 2019
The 5th Annual Heart of Summer Triathlon will be held at the Davis Family Y on September 7th at 8:30am. This triathlon is for adult athletes within our special needs community. Each racer will have a volunteer accompany them throughout the race to motivate them and assist as needed.
Heart of Summer Tri Course
*NEW LOCATION FOR 2019*! Due to construction at our West Side Y, the 5th Annual Heart of Summer Tri will be held at our Davis Y in Farragut. The course will consist of a 200 yd swim in the Davis Y indoor pool, a 3 mile bike on a stationary bike, and a half-mile outdoor run on a designated course through Jefferson Park neighborhood.
FACILITY HOURS: The Davis Y will have a delayed opening at 10:30am on September 7th to allow for adequate parking for the Heart of Summer Tri.
Heart of Summer Training
Registration includes a race t-shirt, a medal, and 5 group training sessions with Y trainer and event organizer Donna Mostella. Training sessions will meet on Friday afternoons from 4:30-6pm at the Davis Y and will prepare participants for the triathlon. Athletes must attend 4 out of 5 training sessions to be eligible for the race. The training sessions will be held:
- August 9th
- August 16th
- August 23rd
- August 30th
- September 6th

We offer the Heart of Summer Triathlon and Training free for our special needs participants, made possible by generous donors dedicated to our Y community. We are currently looking for sponsors for our athletes! Please sponsor a participant with a donation to our Annual Campaign*

We need you! Volunteers of all interests and capabilities are needed for the following:
- Race Buddy: Assist a participant through the race course, cheering for them during the swim, assisting them on the stationary bike, and running or walking every step of the way.
- Assisting in Transition Stations: Help participants put on shoes, etc. between the swim and the bike
- Registration Table
- Finish Line/Awarding Medals
- CHEERING SECTION!
