Don’t Let the Holidays WEIGH You Down!
The holidays have the potential to threaten your efforts toward a healthy lifestyle, but the Y supports you in challenging yourself to stay on track during this season. The goal is to find ways to exercise at least 4 times per week for the next six weeks, with an additional goal to maintain or lose weight: just don’t gain! DID YOU KNOW? 88% of all U.S. Americans will gain weight from Thanksgiving to New Year’s. Join our DASHING ALL THE WEIGH challenge and change the stats!
OBJECTIVE: Work out 4 times per week for 6 weeks to earn your highly-coveted “Dashing All the Weigh” Challenge shirt. This will be a super soft, long sleeve t-shirt. Workouts do NOT have to be completed at the Y, so walk the dog or do a workout at home, whatever keeps you moving and accountable for these 6 weeks!
EXTRA CHALLENGE (Optional): Weigh-in at the beginning and end of the challenge. If you lose or maintain your starting weight (just don’t gain!), you’ll win an extra prize of a Y coffee mug.
- Registration Dates: November 13th-30th
- Challenge Dates: November 25th-Jan 5th (6 weeks, from the Monday before Thanksgiving to the Sunday after New Year’s)
- Cost: $15 for Y Members; $50 for Friends of the Y (non-member program participants). Non-members receive 6 weeks of access to Y facilities.
Use the Dashing All the Weigh Tracker Card to log at least 4 workouts each week to stay consistent in your healthy habits. Turn your tracker card in no later than January 10th to earn your Dashing All the Weigh shirt! If you’d like to also track your weight, the Y can help. Weigh-in with a Y staff member the week of November 25th (Week 1 of the challenge) and weigh-out the week of January 5th (at the completion of the challenge). If you maintain or lose weight (just don’t gain!), you’ll earn a bonus prize of a YMCA coffee mug!
