Group Exercise Class Descriptions – Cansler Y
Aqua Zumba: This low-impact, high-energy class incorporates Latin dance moves in shallow water with easy-to-follow choreography.
Cardio Fusion: This class blends many different cardio exercises into one great workout! All ages and exercise levels are welcome to this class.
Circuit: A group exercise class that will alternate between several exercises that target different muscle groups for a great all over work out.
H20Aerobics: A water aerobics class for all ages; includes strength and cardio training using water resistance and water weights.
Pedaling 4 Parkinson’s: A spin class designed to improve the quality of life of those diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
Pilates: Pilates is a mat class that strengthens the “powerhouse” and improves flexibility. This core training class is appropriate for all fitness levels.
Senior Classic: Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion, and includes skills for daily living. Hand-held weights, bands, and balls are used for resistance; a chair may be used for support.
Senior Circuit: Increase your cardio and muscular endurance with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, bands, and a ball is alternated with low-impact choreography. A chair is used for standing support and stretching.
Senior Yoga: In senior yoga, chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of seated and standing yoga poses designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion.
Social Run: Easy paced run guided by an experienced runner. The route will be approximately 3 miles through our community in downtown/East Knoxville. All skill/experience levels welcome , be prepared for 3 miles at a comfortable jogging pace. We will implement social distancing, so please leave 6 feet between you and your neighbor!
Spin: An instructor-led class on indoor spin bikes that takes you on rides through flats and hills while you control the intensity.
Strength & Movement: An aerobic class that’s safe, heart-healthy and gentle on the joints, perfect for active older adults. Class includes low-impact movements, upper-body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching, and relaxation exercises.
Tabata: A class based on the HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) method using 20 second microbursts followed by 10 seconds of rest. Each class involves several tabatas.
Tai Chi: Tai Chi is a martial art that combines various martial arts movements with energy circulation, breathing, and stretching techniques.
Total Body: Designed to strengthen and tone all musclegroups. Bands, hand weights, steps, etc. will be used. Great for beginners and advanced participants.
Total Definition: This class offers a full body workout improving cardiovascular health, muscular strength & endurance through weight training & body-weight exercises.
Ultimate Fit: A functional fitness-based class that uses kettlebells, plyometric boxes, jump ropes, plate weights, and dumbbells to improve overall fitness, strength, and agility.
Yoga: Yoga provides slow, controlled movements and deep stretches are used to release tension, develop flexibility and strength.
Yoga Basics: A yoga class suitable for beginners and seniors or anyone wanting a gentle approach to yoga. Zumba: A fuse of Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a dynamic workout.
Youth Fitness: Fun training style and games based class for kids ages 5-12. This class will develop skills to increase strength, agility, balance and cardio all through fun activities and games for the kids. Class starts with a dynamic warm up to help prepare the body for exercise.
Zumba Core: Work on that 6-pack by doing Zumba dance moves that target the abdominals.
