The 4th Annual Heart of Summer Triathlon will be held at the West Side Y on August 18th at 8:30am. This triathlon is for adult athletes within our special needs community. Each racer will have a volunteer accompany them throughout the race to motivate them and assist as needed.
Heart of Summer Tri Course
The course will consist of a 200 yd swim in the West Side Y outdoor pool, a 3 mile bike on a stationary bike located on the outdoor pool deck, and a half-mile run from the outdoor pool deck onto the West Hills Greenway.
Heart of Summer Training
Registration includes a race t-shirt, a medal, and 4 group training sessions with Y trainer and event organizer Donna Mostella. Training sessions will meet on Friday afternoons from 4:30-6pm at the outdoor pool and will prepare participants for the triathlon. Athletes must attend 4 out of 5 training sessions to be eligible for the race. The training sessions will be held:
- July 20th
- July 27th
- August 3rd
- August 10th
- August 17th

Volunteer
We need you! If you are a runner or triathlete who would like to accompany one of our special needs athletes throughout the race course, contact us today! You will encourage these racers, cheer for them during the swim, assist them on the stationary bike, and run or walk with them every step of the way as they complete the tri. Volunteers are also needed to award medals, pass out water, and cheer!
