The West Side Y is pleased to announce our first ever Winter Indoor Triathlon Sunday, January 24, 2021.  We know it can be a challenge to stay in shape during the winter months.  That’s why we are holding an indoor triathlon and a triathlon training class to help prepare you for the big race.

Indoor Triathlon Format:

Participants compete in all three disciplines (swim, bike, and run) for distance, not time.

  • How many laps can you swim in 20 minutes?
  • How many miles can you ride in 20 minutes?
  • How many miles can you run in 20 minutes?

All events will take place inside the West Side Y: indoor pool for swim, spin bikes in the gym for ride, and treadmills on the fit floor for run.  We will ensure social distancing for participants.  Winners will be the participants in each gender age group that go the furthest combined distance.

Age Groups:

  • Under 18
  • 19-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60+

Triathlon Training Program:

Open to members and non-members, the training program lasts 6 weeks and will focus on all three disciplines.  Whether you are an experienced triathlete or a novice, this training program will prepare you for the West Side Winter Indoor Triathlon.  Classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7am starting December 14, 2020.  Each day will cover one of the aspects of the sport with some days covering two.
