Community Schools

What is a Community School?

As the hub of the neighborhood, a community school is a partnership between a school and its community resources. It’s our goal to encourage academics, provide basic health and social services, and offer family support. When our students’ basic needs are met, they can focus on learning during the school day. Our Community Schools are a partnership between Great Schools Partnership, Knox Co. Schools, the YMCA of East Tennessee, and other community partners.

What Happens at Our Community Schools?

Gifted volunteers from our community help our kids learn, grow, and thrive. Today, close to 175 students are being served by the Community Schools at Green Magnet Math and Science Academy, Spring Hill Elementary, Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Academy, and Beaumont Magnet Academy. The Knoxville Museum of Art, The University of Tennessee, Project Grad, The Helen Ross McNabb Center, The Muse, the Joy of Music School, and many community volunteers and teachers are partners with Community Schools.

How Can You Help?

A community school can’t exist without the support of our community. Volunteers assist leading clubs, tutoring students, and serving families during nightly dinner.
