New Program Launch: Creative Movement / Youth Dance!

At the Y, we help children experience new outlets for creativity, movement, and a love for healthy lifestyles. Our new Creative Movement instructors have experience in tap, jazz, pointe, hip-hop, contemporary, ballroom, Latin dance, and more, as well as experience teaching dance to children and adults of all ages.

  • Creative Movement Classes will run monthly for preschool and school-aged children. Registration will open on the 12th (Y Members) and 15th (Non-Members) of the previous month.  Register beginning August 12th or 15th for September classes!
  • Classes are $25/month for Y Members and $50/month for Program Participants.
  • No previous dance experience is required.
  • No special dance shoes or special attire required.  Athletic wear is recommended so dancers can move and groove with ease.

Preschool Creative Movement (Ages 2-5): Tuesdays from 9:45am – 10:30am

This introductory dance class will help little movers set their creativity to music! We begin by learning basic dance skills such as balance, knowledge of movement, rhythm, and more. A variety of genres and methods are covered in this course.

Creative Movement (Ages 5-8): Wednesdays from 4:15 – 5:00pm

Creative Movement (Ages 8-12): Wednesdays from 5:15 – 6:00pm

This hip-hop/jazz-inspired class is geared toward kids who love to move and want to learn how to start putting that movement to music! We focus on building confidence in basic dance skills such as rhythm, improvisation, coordination, and more. These future dancers will work on the basic dance skills through practicing a dance-centered warm-up, learning new steps, working on beginner combinations, and having fun!
