Join the YMCA of East Tennessee’s Healthy Heart Challenge This February!
February is American Heart Month, and there’s no better time to take steps toward a healthier heart! At the YMCA of East Tennessee, we’re inviting you to join our Healthy Heart Challenge and make heart health a priority.
How It Works:
- Sign Up – Register for the challenge and receive a long-sleeve t-shirt that you can wear with pride. Register at the Y location that is most convenient for you to pick up your long-sleeve shirt!
- Complete Heart-Healthy Activities – Along with your shirt, we’ll provide you with a list of 12 heart-healthy activities. Your mission? Choose 5 of the 12 activities and work toward completing them throughout February.
Heart-Healthy Activities:
- Attend a Les Mills Class at the Y (BODYPUMP, BODYCOMBAT, BODYBALANCE, or Les Mills CORE).
- Meditate for 5-10 minutes daily.
- Stretch 1-2 times per day.
- Create 1 personal health S.M.A.R.T. goal to achieve by the end of the month.
- Get your blood pressure checked.
- Take a Spin class at the Y.
- Get 8 hours of sleep each night.
- Incorporate new stress management techniques (book a massage, spend time in nature, or plan social get-togethers).
- Complete 150 minutes of physical activity weekly.
- Maintain or lose weight during the month of February.
- Sign up for personal training at the Y.
- Find an accountability partner for your health journey.
By participating in this challenge, you’ll take actionable steps to improve your heart health while enjoying the support of the Y community.
