For our August 2021 Hike, we will explore Forks of the River Wildlife Management area, 3140 McClure Lane, Knoxville, TN 37920. Forks of the River WMA is part of Outdoor Knoxville Urban Wilderness and adjacent to Ijam’s Nature Center. August’s hike is 5-6 miles and will include the Whaley trail, which continues past the Will Skelton Greenway and along the French Broad River, and then connects to the West Perimeter trail, which takes you back to McClure Ln. It is known for wildflowers and massive sunflower plantings. Hopefully, we will be able to enjoy the end of the sunflowers.
