Thank you, Jim!
Today, our YMCA of East Tennessee is formally announcing the upcoming retirement of our longtime President and CEO Jim Dickson, effective December 31, 2024. Under Jim’s leadership, our Y has expanded to five locations and 19 childcare sites in Knox County, opened three new facilities, and increased our community impact to serve more than 75,000 people annually with life-saving programs, classes, and initiatives.
“I started as a green program director in Birmingham and somehow became the old guy with lots of stories here in Knoxville. This career has helped me grow and has shaped me into the man I am today, and for that I will always be grateful. It has been a joy and great blessing to be the 21st CEO of the YMCA of East Tennessee. I am very grateful for the entire board, volunteers, donors, members and staff. I have learned so much about leadership and Mission by serving alongside you.”
The Y will continue to address the most critical issues facing our neighbors in need, providing high-quality, affordable childcare for working families, equitable access to programs that help battle obesity and chronic disease, and life-saving swim lessons for thousands in our community.
Jim, thank you for your 42 years of service to the Y movement, and for your 29 years of leadership in our Knoxville and East Tennessee community!
